Performance Trawler: Hampton Yachts Endurance 658 by yachtworld.com & Neil Rabinowitz.
More than 50 years ago, C.Y. Chen founded the Taiwan Yacht Industry Association and went on to build more than 2000 boats with the Formosa Boat Building Company. There were a lot of sailboats in that fleet, and in 1992 when the trend to motoryachts became clear his son Jeff Chen developed the Hampton line. Hampton now has over 200 employees, for its two lines: 58’ to 86’ pilothouse cruisers and the Endurance line of 60’ to 92’ motoryachts. Chen recognized the extensive Northwest waters as a prime market for his performance trawlers, and the line has been prominent in that region. They now also offer models suited to warmer climates like Southern California and Florida.
