Over 1 million people watch the line of decorated yachts, boats, kayaks and canoes float down the Newport Beach harbor. The parade has origins over 100 years ago - the first lighted boat parade took place on small gondolas and canoes in 1908. Nowadays, there are over 100 vessels in the parade. Entrants can receive a multitude of different awards from best use of special effects to best humor. There’s a multitude of public viewing locations on land - including the dine & watch locations at local restaurants, the new 10.5 acre Marina Park, 10th or 15th Street Beaches, or Balboa Peninsula Ferry Landing. Make sure to also check out the fireworks on the opening and final nights.
Check out the dine & watch locations in our Winter 2017 newsletter.
