1. Ivar's Salmon House

Located on the northern shore of Lake Union, Ivar's is a Seattle institution where boaters are known to congregate. With a dock and to-go Fish Bar, it's easily accessible for those who want a quick bite to eat on the water. For those that wish to stay a while, the restaurant boasts lakeside patio dining and an interior dining room that pays homage to the indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest.

2. Whale-Watching on the Puget Sound

Pods of Orca whales thrive in the waters of the Puget Sound and are often seen from April to September. Follow www.orcanetwork.org for updates on pod locations and sightings. These beloved creatures are often seen around the San Juan Islands and Deception pass. Some helpful tips to sighting include watching for flocks of sea birds hovering close to the water - they're often looking to snap up some leftovers from a whale's meal. Keep an eye on whale tour boats as well for hints on where orcas or other whales may be swimming.

3. Alki Beach

One of Seattle's favorite sandy beaches, Alki is known for its early role in Seattle's history. Get there early to catch some rays and quiet - or cruise by for excellent views of the Alki Lighthouse, Space Needle, and Seattle and skyline. The Sunday farmer's market goes on throughout the summer, so you can grab fresh Rainier cherries for your beach day!

4. Vashon Island

While you're cruising on by Alki, consider stopping at Vashon Island. With 45 miles of coastline, there's plenty of water related fun to be had! Picnic at the Maury Island Marine Park, go for a brief hike around Point Robinson, embrace the local legend surrounding the Bicycle Tree, or check out one of the island's many events like the Strawberry Festival from July 20 - 22.

5. MOHAI

Opened in 1952, the Museum of History and Industry is the place to learn about our city's past. Every third Wednesday of the month the museum partners with HistoryLink and Seattle Public Library to put on History Cafe - a well-attended event that discusses the obscure local history of Seattle! Appealing for adults and children alike, the museum's location on Lake Union makes it the perfect place to spend an afternoon and then pick up dinner at one of the dockside restaurants like Daniel's Broiler, Chandler's Crabhouse, or Duke's Chowder. Be sure to stop by the Hampton Yacht Group office to say hi to our brokers and even check out some of our available inventory.
