The history of Hampton Yachts begins in Taiwan 50 years ago where the Chen Family built the famous Formosa line of sailing yachts under the direction of the family’s patriarch, C.Y. Chen.
In 1992 the Hampton Yacht Building Company was established and was one of the first Taiwanese companies to start yacht building in China. With the passing of C.Y. Chen, Jeff Chen, Managing Director, and C.Y. Chen’s son, together with a select few investors and the Chen Family, expanded on his father’s vision. Jointly they built the high tech facilities of today, and initiated the development of the very successful Endurance LRC series, which garnered international praise.
Today Hampton Yachts employs over 200 skilled craftsmen, finish carpenters, designers, engineers and naval architects.
While Hampton Yachts’ heritage began in Taiwan, the company’s success today, is very much a contemporary story. When the world-wide sailboat market started to soften, Hampton Yachts turned to Motor Yacht design and construction. Many of these new motor yachts were designed in-house under the able and talented direction of Jim Chen.
As success followed success, Naval Architect, Howard Apollonio was engaged to consult on new designs. One of the results of this ongoing collaboration, with considerable input from Hampton Dealers, has resulted in the Hampton Hybrid Hull that became the basis of the very successful Endurance LRC series.
None of the success would have been possible without the unwavering commitment to quality; in design, construction engineering and craftsmanship. A commitment started 50 years ago in Taiwan, by C.Y. Chen and carried-on today through the leadership of his son, Jeff Chen and a host of carefully chosen craftsmen, artisans and a worldwide dealer network.
ENCORE is a highly customized 2019 Hampton Endurance 658 Long Range Cruiser, Hull #14, designed and equipped for serious extended cruising while offering the accommodations, systems redundancy and living space normally associated with a substantially larger yacht.
Built on Hampton’s Endurance Hybrid Hull, ENCORE incorporates extensive factory customization including an extended hull and swim platform, enclosed and climate-controlled flybridge, Twin Disc EJS joystick maneuvering with Position Hold, upgraded 38 HP ABT hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, ABT 9X Zero Speed stabilization, custom island galley, full-beam master suite, dedicated crew/utility accommodations and an extensive long-range cruising equipment package.
The yacht has continued to receive significant systems upgrades since delivery, including Battle Born lithium-ion house batteries, upgraded Victron Quattro inverter system with automatic generator start, upgraded ISO Boost transformers, Starlink connectivity, remote-access security cameras and Maretron vessel monitoring.
Her owner reports approximately 702 hours on the twin Caterpillar C12.9 main engines. The engines have been maintained by Caterpillar since new and carry Caterpillar Platinum Plus Advantage warranty coverage through October 2027. Engine oil, oil filters, fuel filters and belts were serviced in May 2026.
ENCORE combines the substantial construction and passagemaking characteristics of the Endurance Series with an unusually high level of customization, equipment and redundancy.

Boarding ENCORE from the extended swim platform immediately reveals one of the yacht's most significant custom features. The approximately five-foot platform factory extension creates a substantial waterside activity and tender-storage area while increasing the yacht's overall footprint well beyond that of a standard Endurance 658.
The platform was specifically configured to accommodate a Walker Bay tender. Matching tender chock arrangements allow the tender-support system to be utilized either on the extended platform or on the upper boat deck. The Steelhead yacht crane was modified with additional reach to launch a tender aft of the extended platform.
From the swim platform, an aircraft-style transom door provides direct access to the lazarette/crew area. Stairs lead upward to the covered aft deck.
The aft deck is arranged as a protected outdoor entertaining area with built-in seating, custom teak table with compass-rose inlay, substantial storage, boarding access from both sides and convenient port and starboard wing control stations. Fresh and raw-water washdowns and a recessed hot/cold shower support watersports and cruising activities.
Wide covered side decks lead forward from the aftdeck. Oversized oval stainless-steel rails provide secure movement around the yacht. The side decks continue to the Portuguese bridge and foredeck, where built-in seating creates a second private outdoor gathering area.
The foredeck incorporates substantial storage, dual-anchor ground tackle and a hydraulic Maxwell windlass system. Enlarged bow storage doors were incorporated to make fender and cruising-gear storage easier.
Entering the yacht through the stainless-steel sliding salon door brings you into a warm Makore Cherry interior with the contemporary horizontal grain.
The salon features large frameless windows, custom cabinetry, generous seating and an open connection to the galley and dining spaces forward. A 49" television and upgraded SONOS audio system provide entertainment.
Moving forward is ENCORE's distinctive custom island galley. The arrangement was designed to maintain sightlines through the main deck while providing extensive food-preparation and storage space. Appliances include GE refrigeration/freezer drawers, induction cooktop, oven, microwave, dishwasher, trash compactor and garbage disposal. A bar-top cabinet incorporates an ice maker.
Adjacent to the galley is the formal dining area, with a custom table accommodating four to six guests plus two matching folding chairs. Aircraft-style doors provide access to the side decks.
A curved staircase leads below to the accommodation deck. The foyer incorporates one of ENCORE's signature details along with laundry facilities and storage.
The full-beam master stateroom is amidships and features a king berth, extensive cabinetry, additional custom storage, vanity, cedar-lined hanging storage and a private master head. The master head was customized with a dual-sink arrangement and separate shower.
Forward is the VIP stateroom, featuring an island berth, extensive cabinetry and storage, cedar-lined hanging locker, opening stainless-steel portlights and overhead skylight.
A third guest stateroom provides twin berths, with one berth designed to slide and create a larger sleeping arrangement when desired.
The guest accommodations are served by a well-appointed forward head with marble surfaces, separate shower and Tecma toilet.
Aft and accessed independently from the salon or through the transom is the crew/utility and lazarette area, referred to by the owner as the White Room. This versatile area combines crew accommodations, storage and machinery access and incorporates a custom double-width sliding-door system. A dedicated head and full private shower make this area suitable for crew, additional guests or extended-cruising storage.
From the main deck, an interior staircase leads upward to the enclosed flying bridge, one of ENCORE's defining features.
The climate-controlled bridge provides excellent visibility and all-weather operation. Three large 24" Garmin multifunction displays dominate the helm, while powered Stidd helm chairs provide excellent comfort underway. A Garmin remote is integrated into the captain's chair arm.
The enclosed bridge offers heat and air conditioning, substantial seating and convenient access aft to the boat deck. The upper deck provides additional tender storage, shade capability and substantial storage cabinetry. Along with a custom awning.
The result is a yacht designed around comfortable operation in both Pacific Northwest and warm-weather cruising environments.
